THE FOUNDING OF RepCoNews

The concept for this newsletter was first introduced by alum and former National Honor Society member Rebecca Villanueva in 2023. It was originally proposed as a project run almost entirely within NHS, with sections for each grade's individual news. Rebecca did most of the heavy-lifting in terms of establishing the website on Wix and getting everyone to sign off on the idea. When I took over the project nearly a year later, I decided to redesign the whole website and make it a school-wide newsletter, focusing on more overarching topics of research. I also decided to form a separate managing club for RepCoNews as a subsidiary of NHS, so people outside could also contribute their efforts. The idea of a weekly featured artist was also brought up by someone in an NHS meeting, and I thought it would be beneficial to incorporate that as well. Overall, the concept of RepCoNews has gone through a multitude of revisions and final drafts, and will likely continue to, but the mission of this project will always remain the same: To inform, to educate, and to be a platform that brings us together as a community. Hopefully, with this iteration of RepCoNews and the many that will surely follow, we as a collective will be able to bring Rebecca's vision to life.
